Do you Twitter?

Posted by Martin Jamieson | March 26, 2008 .

I’ve only been using Twitter for a short time and (so far) only follow a handful of well known bloggers who usually have some pretty interesting things to say, but managed to take part in a pretty cool experiment by Problogger Darren Rowse today.

Earlier this morning he asked his army of followers (currently 2644 of us lemmings) to send him a link of their best blog post from the last week - I submitted Query Types - Figuring out Keyword Intent. Darren got 73 responses to his tweet and posted them all on his blog shortly after. You can read the eclectic bunch of posts here: Re-Tweeted - 73 Top Posts from the Last Week. There are some great articles in the list and well worth a read.

Something else I’ve found useful, being a new user to Twitter is watching all the Tweets coming back to Darren (via Tweet Scan) thanking him for the link love etc. gives an even better insight into how the Twitter interaction functions with those actively posting and marketing on it.

If you would like to follow me on Twitter, my account name is MartyJ… I’ll try to follow back as many as I can, although I’m not sure how I’ll go once I start building up big numbers, I’m kind of enjoying reading what the few I’m currently following have to say.

Darren’s experiment was a great idea and by posting those posts on his blog he did much than he promised.

Yes, Darren sure knows what he’s doing, originally said he would re-tweet them, but the blog post gives them more exposure. Not only over delivering to those who participated, but it was probably quicker for Darren to put them in a blog post rather than tweeting each one anyway - so it was win - win all round :)
